The game revolves around your greed meter. If this reaches 100% you lose. You will have to kill enemies that try to infect you. Since you bringed no weapon with you, you’ll have to use objects around you to kill enemies. Enemies will drop items that can lower your greed meter. If you survive until the election, you win.
